The General Notices of USP 31, beginning with “The following terminology is used” under “Official” and “Official Articles” (but not including the section Storage under Nonspecific Conditions under Preservation, Packaging, Storage, and Labeling, since that topic is addressed in these General Notices), apply equally to the standards, test, assays, and other specifications of this National Formulary, the terms “National Formulary” and “NF” being read for “Pharmacopeial” and “USP,” respectively.

Similarly, the General Chapters, the section on Reagents, Indicators, and Solutions, and the Reference Tables of USP 31 apply also to this National Formulary.NF27
